  1. This file slightly changes three "READ.MEs" included with NetWare for SAA
  2. 1.3.  The three deal with changes the installer must make to insure
  3. compatability between NetWare for SAA V1.3 and:
  4.   - NACS V3.0   
  5.   - NetWare HostPrint
  6.   - NetWare SNA Links
  7. ***********************************************************************
  8.             NACS 3.0 and NetWare for SAA 1.3 Sharing COMMEXEC 
  9.  
  10. NACS 3.0x and NetWare for SAA both ship with, and use COMMEXEC.  
  11. NetWare for SAA 1.3 ships with COMMEXEC version 1.3 which is significantly
  12. different from the version which ships with NACS.
  13.   - COMMEXEC 1.3 is neither a better nor worse platform for NACS 3.  It is
  14.   simply a version modified for compatibility with NetWare for SAA 1.3.
  15.  
  16.   - If NACS3 and SAA 1.3 will be sharing a server they will be sharing
  17.   COMMEXEC 1.3 and one of the two following sets of instructions must be
  18.   followed.  Both require the use of the "NACS Update Disk" which ships
  19.   with NetWare for SAA V1.3. 
  20.  
  21. I.  If NACS 3.0 was installed prior to receipt of NetWare for SAA 1.3 (and 
  22. --------------------------------------------------------------------------
  23. COMMEXEC 1.3).
  24. --------------
  25. After the COMMEXEC 1.3 update has been completed execute the following
  26. steps:
  27. 1.  From the NetWare console, load the NetWare installation utility:
  28.      :LOAD INSTALL
  29. 2.  Select "Product Options" 
  30. 3.  Press the "INSERT" key and enter the full path of the location of the
  31. "NACS and SNA Links Compatibility Modules", or insert that disk into drive
  32. A:
  33. 4.  Select the "Install on this Server" option
  34.  
  35.  
  36. II. If NetWare for SAA 1.3 (and COMMEXEC 1.3) were installed  prior to NACS
  37. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
  38. 3.0.
  39. ----
  40. Assume 
  41.   - NACS 3.0 DISK1 is in drive A:, and
  42.   - "NACS and SNA Links Compatibility Modules" disk is in drive B:
  43.  
  44. 1.  Overwrite DISK1 of NACS 3.0 with the contents of the "NACS and SNA
  45. Links Compatibility Modules" disk:
  46.   XCOPY B:*.* A: /S
  47.  
  48. 2.  Delete the PRODUCT.DEF file
  49.         DEL A:PRODUCT.DEF
  50.  
  51. 3.  Rename the PRODUCT.IEF file to PRODUCT.DEF
  52.         RENAME A:PRODUCT.IEF PRODUCT.DEF
  53.  
  54. 4.  From the NetWare console, load the NetWare installation utility:
  55.         :LOAD INSTALL
  56.  
  57. 5.  Select "Product Options" 
  58.  
  59. 6.  Press the "INSERT" key and enter the full path of the location of the
  60. (newly updated) NACS 3.0 files, or insert the (newly updated) NACS 3.0 disk
  61. into drive A:
  62. 7.  Select the "Install on this Server" option.
  63.  
  64. *************************************************************************
  65.                       NETWARE HOSTPRINT V1.0 UPDATE
  66.                         FOR NETWARE FOR SAA V1.3
  67.          
  68. VERY important information about installing and running NetWare HostPrint
  69. under NetWare for SAA 1.3.  
  70.  
  71. 1.  If you installed HostPrint under NetWare for SAA 1.1 or 1.2, you must
  72. apply the update disk, following the directions below, before HostPrint can
  73. be used under NetWare for SAA 1.3.  
  74.  
  75. 2.  If you are doing a new installation of HostPrint under NetWare for SAA
  76. 1.3, you must follow the procedures described in this document -- the
  77. installation procedure that comes with HostPrint WILL NOT WORK under
  78. NetWare for SAA 1.3.  
  79.  
  80. UPDATING HOSTPRINT FOR NETWARE FOR SAA V1.3
  81. The following instructions assume that:
  82.   - HostPrint is already installed under NetWare for SAA 1.1 or 1.2 
  83.   - NetWare for SAA 1.3 has been successfully installed.
  84.  
  85. 1. The server must be active but NetWare for SAA (COMMEXEC.NLM) must not be
  86. running.  
  87.  
  88. 2.  Insert the HostPrint update disk into a drive on the server.  
  89.  
  90. 3.  At the NetWare console prompt (":"), enter:
  91.         LOAD A:HPUPDATE
  92.  
  93. (If you placed the HostPrint installation diskette in a drive other than
  94. the "A" drive, change the "A:" in the above command to identify the
  95. appropriate drive.)
  96.  
  97. 4.  You will see a series of messages about files being copied, followed by
  98. a message that PINSTALL.NLM is being loaded.  
  99.  
  100. 5.  The PINSTALL utility will present a screen which prompts you to confirm
  101. the continuation of the update/installation process, and which informs you
  102. about the progress of that installation.  
  103.  
  104. 6.  When the installation is complete, press Escape to exit from PINSTALL.
  105.  
  106. INSTALLING NETWARE HOSTPRINT UNDER NETWARE FOR SAA V1.3
  107. The following instructions assume that:
  108.   - NetWare for SAA 1.3 is successfully installed on a server on which
  109.   HostPrint has not previously been installed
  110.   
  111. 1.  On a DOS workstation, login or attach to the target server as
  112. "SUPERVISOR" and map a drive (for example, "N:") to the SYS:\SYSTEM
  113. directory on the target server.  
  114.  
  115. 2.  Insert the HostPrint installation disk into a drive on the workstation.
  116.  
  117. 3.  Issue the following DOS commands:
  118.         COPY A:HOSTPRT.* N:
  119.         COPY A:PRCONFIG.* N:
  120.         COPY A:*.XLT N:
  121.  
  122. (Change "A:" and "N:" in the above commands to identify the appropriate
  123. drives, if necessary.)
  124.  
  125. 4.  Use the HostPrint update disk and follow the procedures described above
  126. in the section "Updating HostPrint for NetWare for SAA 1.3".
  127.  
  128. RUNNING HOSTPRINT UNDER NETWARE FOR SAA V1.3
  129. For the most part, HostPrint under NetWare for SAA 1.3 works exactly as
  130. described in the HostPrint documentation.  However, there are minor
  131. differences:
  132.  
  133. A.  There is no  CS>  prompt.  
  134. Instead, LOAD and UNLOAD commands are issued from the NetWare server  : 
  135. prompt. 
  136.  
  137. B.  To LOAD the command is now "LOAD HOSTPRT" (not "CSLOAD HOSTPRT").
  138.  
  139. C.  To UNLOAD the command is now "UNLOAD HOSTPRT" (not "CSUNLOAD HOSTPRT").
  140.  
  141. D. The "CSDOWN" command no longer exists.
  142.

  145.                NetWare SNA Links Product UpGrade/Installation
  146.

  149. SNA Links Already Installed with NetWare for SAA 1.2  
  150. ------------------------------------------------------
  151. If NetWare SNA Links 1.0 is already installed in a NetWare for SAA 1.2
  152. environment, it will be automatically changed to execute in a NetWare for
  153. SAA 1.3 environment when NetWare for SAA 1.3 is installed, with the
  154. following minor exceptions.
  155.  
  156. 1.  Refer to Chapter 7 of the NetWare for SAA 1.3 Administration Guide for
  157. instructions on providing a value for the new field called "Logical Adapter
  158. Name".  
  159.  
  160. 2.  Add the "NAME=" field to the "LOAD adapter" command in AUTOEXEC.NCF.
  161.  
  162. 3.  After the installation the file SYS:\CSL\RIPENH.NLM may be deleted.  A
  163. newer version is on the SYS:\SYSTEM directory and is automatically used
  164. when referenced in AUTOEXEC.NCF.
  165.  
  166.  
  167. First Time Installation of SNA Links
  168. ------------------------------------
  169. If you are installing NetWare SNA Links with NetWare for SAA 1.3, you must
  170. have the product disks for NetWare for SNA Links, the "NetWare SAA 1.3 /
  171. NetWare Operating System and Misc Support Files" diskette, and the NetWare
  172. SNA Links Administration Guide. 
  173. Then:
  174.  
  175. 1.  If NetWare for SAA is currently running, stop it by following the
  176. instructions in the NetWare SNA Links Administration Guide, pages 4-2 and
  177. 4-3.
  178.  
  179. 2.  From a DOS client, create a directory on your server called
  180. SYS:SYSTEM\SNALINKS.
  181. 3.  Copy all files from the NetWare SNA Links product disk #1 to
  182. SYS:SYSTEM\SNALINKS.  Do not copy the CSL directory files, this part of the
  183. procedure is covered in the NetWare SNA Links Administration Guide (see
  184. step 10 below).

  186. 4.  Copy PINSTALL.NLM and CSINSTAL.HLP from SYS:SYSTEM\CSINSTAL to
  187. SYS:SYSTEM\SNALINKS.
  188.  
  189. 5.  With SYS:SYSTEM as your default directory, enter:
  190.                LOAD INSTALL
  191.  
  192. 6.  Move the cursor down to Product Options, and press enter.
  193.  
  194. 7.  When the "Currently Installed Products" screen appears, press the
  195. INSERT key, backup over the "A:" path and enter the string:
  196.  
  197.           SYS:SYSTEM\SNALINKS
  198.  
  199. 8.  When the "Install displayed Product" window appears, select the
  200. "Install on this server" option (the other options are not supported for
  201. NetWare SNA Links).
  202.  
  203. 9.  When the message ".........has been completed." appears,
  204. press escape and exit the INSTALL program.
  205. Note: Item 10 replaces page 4-12 in the NetWare for SNA Links
  206. Administration Guide.
  207.  
  208. 10.  From a workstation, using the NetWare SNA Links product disk #1, copy
  209. the files:
  210.                     IRWASM.NLM
  211.                     ICM_SPX.NLM
  212.  
  213. to the file server directory SYS:\CSL if they are not already there.  If
  214. they are, only copy them if they have later dates.
  215.  
  216. 11.  Follow the instructions in the NetWare SNA Links Administration Guide
  217. pages 4-9 through 4-11 to install SNA Links Performance Files (required).
  218.  
  219. 12.  NetWare SNA Links v1.0 is now installed and ready for configuration. 
  220.  
  221. 13.  Refer to Chapter 5 in the NetWare SNA Links Administration Guide for
  222. details on configuration.
  223.  
  224. 14. Refer to the NetWare for SAA v1.3 Administration Guide, Chapter 7 for
  225. instructions on configuring NetWare SAA service profiles, especially the
  226. new field called "Logical Adapter Name".  Be sure to add the "NAME=" field
  227. to the "LOAD adapter" command in AUTOEXEC.NCF.
  228.  
  229. NOTE
  230. ----
  231. 1.  When the RIPENH.NLM is loaded (after LSLENH.NLM), the message shown
  232. below is displayed. 
  233. Please ignore it, RIPENH is executing properly.
  234.  
  235.   "RIPENH: Warning: The LSL has already been patched -  probably by
  236.   LSLENH.NLM.  RIPENH.NLM will still load."
  237.  
  238. 2.  NetWare SNA Links v1.0 currently supports only Token Ring and SDLC
  239. connections.
